Dawn breaks
With jagged breath
The chill settled
In hearts too cold
To feel pain
And eyes too bitter
To see the stars
And stripes

I see you
In between the crowd
Lost in a world of chaos
But no matter where you are
I see you, I feel you
Your pain is in my blood
My soul weeps with yours
My heart breaks with yours
With every teardrops
I’ll paint our world
In poetry
Words deeply imbued
With hope©

I am still hopeful, deep down in the silence
Beneath the darkness, a flame still burns
I’ve seen too much, I’ve been hurt too much
I’ve prayed too much, to give in now
I’m painting a rainbow over my scars
I’m washing the ugliness from my tongue
I am speaking to the mountain
And the walls and the empty spaces
Receptive souls will hear, the broken heart will hear
Grieving families will hear, the children will hear
The confused and disillusion will hear
They will come, they will listen
For in our bellies, rooted deep we have an innate
Desire to see change, to feel hopeful
So today, come as you are, hear my voice
Let change begins with you and me
One voice, one word softly spoken
Are you listening

Soul derailed
Heart slipping on
On brokenness
Regretting the days
Spent in isolation
No one knew the strength
It took to walked
A straight line
Little by little
Anger stole my joy
No one saw the gravestone
In my eyes.

Take me to that place
Where our souls
Can be drenched with beauty
Show me the wonders
Of your thoughts
Your aesthetic words are infinite
Pulling heaven down
A little closer
Resting deeply
In your embrace©
